Holbein watercolour-sketch of artist and writer K Lynn Smith's 'Plume' characters Vesper Grey and otherworldly guardian Corrick. Summoned from the golden medallion that Vesper wears, Corrick is about to pluck her from falling through ice. Something our young adventurer doesn't expect! I really love the struggles between these two in trying to forge something of a couple. After all, Corrick's been around for thousands of years, untouchable, all but unstoppable, but, under it all, a force for good. As the book reads "Between his silent hostility and general irritation for everything, Corrick just *oozed* comfort". For tough-as-nails Vesper, he sure does.
